Nose was developed to foster olfactive curiosity.

Our second issue of Nose is titled Primed. It began with a proposition: that smell, more than our other senses, is shaped by suggestion. Unlike sight or sound, scent resists precision. It reaches the brain as something partial – ambiguous, fleeting, often difficult to name. Our language for smell is limited, and its closeness to memory and emotion makes it especially porous.

In this issue we explore smell’s instability, looking at how it is influenced by language, memory, experience and culture. Rather than treating scent’s elasticity as a weakness, we see it as a ground for meaning-making, where priming becomes a source of richness.
